Bulk Cropper is a powerful macOS application designed to process multiple images simultaneously. It allows you to crop, resize, and convert images in bulk with various intelligent cropping options, custom templates, and flexible output settings.

Installation

Download: Get Bulk Cropper from the Mac App Store

System Requirements:

• macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or later
• Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel processor
• Minimum 4GB RAM recommended for processing large batches

Getting Started

Basic Workflow

1. Select Input Folder: Click "Browse…" in the Configuration tab to select a folder containing your images
2. Choose Output Location: Select where you want the processed images to be saved
3. Set Dimensions: In the Dimensions tab, add one or more size presets
4. Configure Options: Choose your preferred:
   • Crop mode (Smart, Center, etc.)
   • Output format (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF)
   • Quality setting
   • File naming template
5. Start Processing: Navigate to the Process tab and click "Start Processing"

File Naming Templates

You can customize output filenames using these variables:

• {filename} – Original filename without extension
• {width} – Output width in pixels
• {height} – Output height in pixels
• {dimensionname} – Name of the dimension preset
• {folder_name} – Name of the parent folder containing the original
• {date} – Current date
• {counter} – Sequential number

Example: {filename}_{dimensionname}_{width}x{height}

Templates

Save frequently used settings by:

1. Configure your settings in the Dimensions and Configuration tabs
2. Click "Save" in the Templates dropdown
3. Enter a name for your template
4. Click "Save Template"

To use a saved template, select it from the Templates dropdown.

Q: How does Smart Cropping work?

A: Smart Cropping uses Apple's Vision framework to identify the most important part of each image and centers the crop around this area, ensuring the main subject remains in frame.

Q: Can I process RAW image files?

A: Yes, Bulk Cropper supports most common RAW formats, converting them to your selected output format.

Q: How do I create multiple sizes from the same image?

A: Add multiple dimension presets in the Dimensions tab. Each image will be processed according to all presets you've defined.

Q: Is there a limit to how many images I can process at once?

A: There's no built-in limit, but processing very large numbers of images (1000+) may require more time and system resources.

Q: Can I cancel a processing job once it's started?

A: Yes, you can click the "Cancel" button during processing to stop the operation.

Troubleshooting

Application Won't Open

• Verify you're running a compatible macOS version (12.0+)
• Try restarting your Mac
• Check if the app needs to be updated

Images Not Processing

• Ensure input files are valid image formats
• Verify you have read/write permissions for the input/output folders
• Check that dimensions entered are valid numbers

Poor Quality Output

• Increase the quality slider for better results (especially for JPEG/HEIC)
• Consider using PNG format for graphics requiring transparency
• Larger dimensions require higher quality settings to maintain clarity

App Seems Slow

• Processing large batches of high-resolution images requires significant resources
• Close other resource-intensive applications
• Consider processing in smaller batches
